Friday, 10 January 2020, Miri: A total of 11km of first carriageway from Sg. Adong Bridge to Riam Junction in Miri is now ready and opened to traffic.
LBU construction manager for Pujut section, Micheal Ting, said with this opening, it is now left with the remaining 4km which is expected to be ready by middle of the year.
“We have started work on the second carriageway along this 11km which has been paved up to binder course level.
“In fact, 4km of second carriageway from Sungai Adong to Sungai Miri has already been completed and paved up to binder course level,” he said.
The last level of pavement after binder course is wearing course.
Meanwhile, work on the Miri Airport Interchange is now concentrated on the superstructure works. Work is now focussed on the deck slab before it moves to pavement work at the interchange’s approach.
“We expect this interchange to be fully completed by the second half of this year,” said Ting.
The 17 spans Miri Airport Interchange has a length of 548m and will help ease traffic between Taman Tunku and Pujut Link Road once completed.
On the three spans Sungai Adong Bridge, Ting said work is now focused on the parapet wall as its super structure had been completed.
“This is a new bridge being built next to the old one which is retained. Once completed, this bridge will connect Pujut Bypass Road to Pujut 7 Link Road,” Ting added.
Pujut section falls under Works Package 11 (Sungai Tangap to Pujut Link Road) which has a total road length of 80km. The other two sections are there are Beluru and Lambir
The main contractor of this works package is Konsortium KPE Sdn Bhd.
