Samling Resources hands over new classroom block to SK Puak
Thursday, 8 August 2019, Bau: Joy is written all over the face of SK Puak pupils in Kampung Puak here as they now have a new roof over their head.
Samling Resources Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for Sematan to Sungai Moyan works package (Works Package 02) under the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak project handed over a five classrooms block to the school in a simple ceremony held at the school today.
SK Puak was built in 1978 and currently it has 81 pupils who attend Standard 1 to 6 with 13 teachers and three administrative staff.
Its headmistress Alice Alam said with the new classroom block, some of the pupils who currently attend their classes at the existing two blocks would be moved to the new block.
The vacated classrooms, she said would be converted to staff room, storage room and resource centre.
The school rebuilding exercise is part of the “Usaha Murni Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak” corporate social responsibility programme.
Under this programme, all the 11 main contractors of the project have pledged to undertake the school rebuilding exercise for selected dilapidated schools under their respective construction stretch.
Other than these 11 main contractors, Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU), being the project delivery partner for the project took the lead by example when it delivered SK Kampung Buda in Spaoh at the end of 2017.
Others which have kickstarted this initiative are Musyati Mudajaya JV, the main contractor of Sungai Kua Bridge to Sg. Arip Bridge (Works Package 08) which has undertaken to rebuild SK Buloh in Selangau.
PPES Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, the main contractor of Sungai Awik Bridge to Bintangor Junction (Works Package 06) is rebuilding SK Engkabang where it is expected to be completed next year.
Konsortium KPE Sdn Bhd, main contractor of Sungai Tangap-Pujut Link Road (Works Package 11) has started the construction of SK Kpg Bulau recently where is expected to be completed by end of next year.
Samling Resources Sdn Bhd, also the main contractor of Telok Melano-Sematan (Works Package 01) is expected to deliver another school, SK Paon Temaga in Lundu next month
