Tuesday, 9 July 2019, Miri: Construction of the Miri Airport Interchange is expected to be completed by August next year.
LBU Construction Manager for Pujut Section Micheal Ting said construction of this 548m interchange which started in December 2018 is now concentrated on building the crossheads.
“We are concurrently doing the pier columns and crossheads for this 17 spans interchange now. So far, we have completed three out of 16 crossheads.
“When these are done, then we will move on to launch the beams before we proceed to do the deck slab, parapet wall and eventually the road furniture,” he said.
Once completed, it will help ease the traffic between Taman Tunku and Pujut Link Road.
Under Works Package 11 (Sungai Tangap to Pujut Link Road) with a length 80km, there are three sections namely Beluru, Lambir and Pujut.
Other than Miri Airport Interchange, three other interchanges are sited in Bekenu, Beluru and Pujut Link Road.
