Monday, 24 June 2019, Sibu: Swift action by contractor for Works Package 07, HSL DMIA JV Sdn Bhd and Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in cleaning up oil spillage at CH.44+800 in Sibu Section helped to bring the congested traffic back to normal within hours last Friday.
Upon receiving the distress call on the incident on Thursday night, the contractor and Bomba rushed to the scene to clean up the affected stretch.
After about two hours of cleaning and around midnight, traffic flow was resumed at the affected stretch.
The cleaning effort however continued the next day with the contractor mobilising its machineries to further remove the oil spillage.
Police together with traffic management personnel were at site to control the already congested traffic as only light vehicles were allowed to pass one of the two lanes opened to them. Heavy vehicles were not allowed to pass as the stretch was still slippery and was thus dangerous for these vehicles.
During the whole process of cleaning, contractor from Works Package 08, Musyati Mudajaya JV Sdn Bhd also lent a helping hand in controlling the traffic. By noon time, the whole of affected stretch was finally opened to traffic and within two hours, all the build up traffic was finally cleared.
Kudos to the team for the swift action!
