SK Engkabang to have new roof soon

Friday, 26 April 2019, Saratok: Next year around this time, the 74 pupils of SK Engkabang can look forward to a new roof over their head when the new seven classrooms block with attached lavatory facilities which can accommodate up to 245 pupils eventually when it is ready.

Thanks to the CSR effort of PPES Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, the main contractor of Sungai Awik Bridge-Bintangor Junction (Works Package 06), this primary school will also have a new hostel block which can accommodate up to 40 pupils of 20 male and female each. A single storey teacher’s quarters will also be built with the total cost of RM2.8mil for this rebuilding exercise.

SK Engkabang was set up in 1951 where it was initially known as Nyabor Dayak School with only 97 pupils before it changed to its current name.

The CSR is part of the ‘Usaha Murni Lebuhraya Pan Borneo Sarawak’ corporate social responsibility programme where LBU and all main contractors of Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak will rebuild 12 dilapidated school or ‘sekolah daif’ in their respective construction stretches.

Being the Project Delivery Partner, LBU led the effort when it delivered SK Kampung Buda in Spaoh at the end of 2017 at the cost of RM2.8mil.

This was followed by Musyati Mudajaya JV, the main contractor of Sungai Kua Bridge-Sg. Arip Bridge (Works Package 08) which undertook the initiative to rebuild SK Buloh. The earth breaking ceremony was held in October last year where it was performed by Works Minister YB Baru Bian during the Jelajah FT Roadpedia to look at the progress of Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak.

Konsortium KPE, the main contractor for Sg. Tangap-Pujut Link Road (Works Package 11) has also committed to rebuilding SK Kampung Bulau where the earth breaking ceremony is expected to be performed next month.

Other main contractors have also committed to undertake this school rebuilding exercise as part of their respective CSR programme.
