Thursday, 17 January 2019, Kuching: The State Road Safety Department (JKJR) is looking forward to working closely with Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU), the Project Delivery Partner for Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak on road safety awareness efforts.
Its state director Christopher Alex said close collaboration with LBU would provide a good platform for the agency in its effort to create awareness among road users on safety especially when it comes to driving along the current federal trunk road which is being upgraded to highway.
“We hope to engage with LBU and all the 11 works package contractors to conduct various activities on road safety as we want to inculcate the safety mindset among the public, said the newly appointed Christopher at a courtesy call to LBU head office here this morning.
During the meeting, Christopher and his officers were briefed by LBU Traffic Management Manager, Masdi Baharom on the traffic management programmes that had been conducted for the project.
LBU, on its part, has conducted various road safety related activities such as road safety campaign and radio advertising during major festivals.
“Today’s meeting is a good opportunity for us to engage with LBU to exchange ideas and share knowledge on how best to make our road safe for everyone in view of the current construction works carried out for the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak project.
“I hope today’s meeting will be the first step for us to working closely in the future,” said Christopher.
