Monday, 26 November 2018, Kuching: The meeting called by Works Minister Yang Berhormat Baru Bian on Saturday in Sri Aman to listen to the progress of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak and various issues related to the project was fruitful as the minister was pleased with the briefing presented to him.
The meeting started with State Public Works Department deputy director Ir. Chai Tse Jin who briefed Baru on the status and progress payment mechanism of the project.
This was immediately followed by a video presentation on the overall project progress for all the 11 works packages from Telok Melano to Miri.
After the video presentation, Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU) chief executive officer Ir. Safuani Abdul Hamid took over the floor and presented in detail the physical and financial payment progress of the project. The minister was also briefed on the utilities relocation works, traffic management and road maintenance.
After the one-hour briefing, Baru who was visibly pleased with the presentation said he was happy to note that the project was progressing well and expressed his hope that LBU, being the Project Delivery Partner for the project and all the main contractors must ensure that the project could be completed on time.
He also urged all the relevant stakeholders who are involved in the project to works together to iron out various issues affecting the progress of the project.
Early in October this year, Baru together his ministry officials, senior officers from State Public Works Department, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communication (MIDT) and LBU senior management team took part in a three-day Jelajah FT Roadpedia, to assess the progress of the project.
The minister had on many occasions reiterated that he would closely monitor the project as Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak which is close the every Sarawakian’s heart who is anxiously waiting for the completion of the project.
