Friday, 23 November 2018, Kuching: Works Minister Yang Berhormat Baru Bian who has reiterated that he would personally monitor the progress of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak construction project will be meeting the various stakeholders in Sri Aman tomorrow.
The one-hour meeting, slated to begin at 2.30pm and chaired by the minister, will among others discuss various issues from payment to utilities relocation works.
Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU), being the Project Delivery Partner for the project will be presenting on the latest updates on the overall progress of the project and this will be followed by roundtable discussion on the issues.
This is the second direct engagement by Baru with the stakeholders of the project since he was appointed to the portfolio after the 14th General Election.
Earlier in October this year, Baru together his ministry officials, senior officers from State Public Works Department, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communication (MIDT) and LBU senior management team took part in a three-day Jelajah FT Roadpedia, criss crossing the entire construction stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak from Telok Melano all the way to Miri in the northern to assess the progress of the project.
During the road trip, Baru had said he was satisfied with the overall progress of the project and expressed his hope that the project could be completed on time by the end of 2021.
Early in January this year, former Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusuf had also called for the similar meeting with the stakeholders of the project to get the latest updates on the project as well as to listen to them on the challenges faced in the construction of this single largest infrastructure project in Sarawak.
