JKR briefed on PBHS project

Friday, 12 October 2018, Kuching: With the construction of Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak in full implementation mode, a group of 60 officers from Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia and from various states had the opportunity to see for themselves the progress made so far during their visit to Telok Melano-Sematan (WPC01) site on Wednesday.

A similar visit was made to WPC01 the following day by another 10 officers from JKR Kelantan.

WPC01 Project Manager Foo Kee Seng shared with these officers from the Road Facilities Maintenance Branch on the progress of this works package which is now focussing on asphalt laying.

Other than WPC01, the group was also briefed on the progress made in other works packages.

While at WPC01, the group drove all the way to Ch. 0+000, the starting point of Pan Borneo Highway, at Telok Melano which was previously inaccessible by road prior to the construction of this stretch. When completed in January next year, this stretch will open up the tourism potential of this fishing village.

During the visit to WPC01, the visitors were also briefed on how LBU is leveraging on technology through our Integrated Project Management System (IPMS) which is used in design, construction, monitoring and preparing for asset management of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak.

This was the second large visit after the 3-day Jelajah FT Roadpedia two weeks ago led by Works Minister Yang Berhormat Baru Bian where the entourage visited all 11 works packages from Telok Melano to Miri.
