PROJAS field assessment completed

Wednesday, 25 July 2018, Kuching: The project performance assessment (PROJAS) exercise which started on July 10 has now been completed.

With the conclusion of this field assessment where the team of assessors from LBU had visited all 11 works packages under Phase 1 of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, it is now time for them to compile their findings where the final result will be made known sometime in September.

“We are now compiling the findings from the assessors. Overall, the assessment was successful and after the compilation is done, we will announce the results,” said LBU’s QAQC Executive Mohamad Haniff Muhamad Yusoff.

To recap, an assessment tool known as Project Assessment System (PROJAS) was introduced earlier this year by LBU, Project Delivery Partner for Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, to measure and evaluate the main contractors on their construction management.

Performance of each of the 11 works packages was evaluated by two assessors, comprising personnel from various departments in LBU. On review was project deliverables and reports. The team also conducted site inspections and interviewed key personnel during the assessment process.

Among the components being focused on are works planning, risk management, project implementation management system, health, safety and environment (HSE) and quality, as well as traffic management.

The project assessment will be conducted twice a year, in June and December, with every assessment component contributing different weightages within a range of 5% to 20% each.

Scores will be given to the set criteria based on level of compliance by the main contractors.

The rankings will be announced and champions will be recognised in 3 categories of awards, namely Overall Best Performing WPC, Best Performing WPC for Health, Safety and Environment, and Best Performing WPC for Traffic Management.

PROJAS definitely comes timely as it will ensure the highest degree of construction quality from all the WPCs as part of delivery of the Project alongside meeting time and cost targets.
