Assessors to hit the ground next week to assess WPCs

Wednesday, 4 July 2018, Kuching: A team of assessors from LBU will hit the ground in middle of this month from July 10 to 18 to kickstart the performance assessment of all 11 works packages from Telok Melano to Miri under Phase 1 of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak project.

Each of the 11 works packages will be assessed by two assessors, comprising personnel from various departments in LBU, where they will review project deliverables and reports while conducting site inspections and interviewing key personnel during the assessment process.

Among the components that will be reviewed are works planning, risk management, project implementation management system, health, safety and environment (HSE) and quality as well as traffic management.

To recap, an assessment tool known as Project Assessment System (PROJAS) was introduced earlier this year by LBU, which is the Project Delivery Partner for the project, to measure and evaluate the main contractors on their construction management.

The assessment will be conducted twice a year in June and December with every assessment component contributes different weightages within a range of 5% to 20% each.

Scores will be given to the set criteria based on the level of compliance by the main contractors.

The rankings will be announced and champions will be recognised through three categories of awards namely Overall Best Performing WPC, Best Performing WPC for Health, Safety and Environment and Best Performing WPC for Traffic Management.

PROJAS definitely comes timely as it will ensure the highest degree of construction quality from all the WPCs and at the same time to complete the project on time and within cost allocated.
