Tuesday, 22 May 2018, Kuching: Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak’s road safety campaign has kicked off in preparation of the coming Gawai Dayak celebration.
Co-organised by LBU and the respective main contractors, the campaign was held early this morning at 5 works packages namely Telok Melano-Sematan (WPC01), Serian-Pantu Junction (WPC03), Pantu Junction-Batang Skrang (WPC04), Sungai Awik Bridge-Bintangor Junction (WPC06) and Bakun Junction-Sungai Tangap (WPC10).
Three works packages - Bintangor Junction-Julau Junction and Sibu Airport-Sungai Kua Bridge (WPC07), Sungai Kua Bridge-Sungai Arip Bridge (WPC08) and Sungai Arip Bridge-Bintulu Airport (WPC09) - will start the campaign this Thursday. Batang Skrang-Sungai Awik (WPC05) will begin theirs on Friday and Sungai Tangap-Pujut Link Road (WPC11) on Saturday.
Sematan-Sungai Moyan (WPC02) meanwhile had done their road safety campaign earlier this month.
During the campaign which was also participated by enforcement agencies, road users were given goodie bag and road safety flyers among others while mini road safety exhibition was also held at site.
The road safety campaign is aimed at reminding road-users to drive safe on the existing Federal trunk road which is being upgraded to a four-lane dual carriageway Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak.
Being the Project Delivery Partner for Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, LBU has been relentlessly promoting road safety as well as that of the health, safety and environment (HSE) since the start of the construction works.
Apart from this annual campaign, LBU has also embarked on radio road safety campaign with popular radio stations to reach out to more people.
A dedicated Traffic Management Unit was set up in March this year to fully oversee the traffic management programmes for the project.
