Contractor delivers water to affected residents in Kabong

Monday, 21 May 2018, Kuching: The works package contractor for Sungai Awik Bridge-Bintangor Junction (WPC06) wasted no time to deliver water supply to some 120 households in Kabong affected by water disruption due to a main pipe burst.

The pipe burst which reportedly happened on May 16 had caused a total shutdown of water supply to the area. Repair work was immediately carried out to fix the damage.

Upon receiving the SOS call on the pipe burst in the evening, the contractor immediately sprung into action and worked until the wee hours of the morning the next day.

Despite completion of the repair works and water supply restored, a further technical glitch happened where the main valve at Lichok water plant failed, causing the water supply to some households to be disrupted due to low water pressure.

Feeling the plight of the residents, the contractor immediately took the initiative to send water to the affected households. Water tankers have been sent daily to the relief of the households.

It is learnt that repair works on the main valve is expected to be completed by today.

Residents in Kabong can expect the water supply to be back to normal soon.
