Monday, 9 April 2018, Miri: Sungai Tangap-Pujut Link Road works package (WPC11) has joined the remaining 10 works packages that have achieved one million safe man hours.
With the achievement, it could very well mean the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak is right on track to achieve its twenty million safe man hours target by the end of this year.
The target was set by LBU chief executive officer, Ir. Safuani Abdul Hamid, during the 10mil safe man hours celebration held on November 30 last year.
As at March 25 this year, the overall safe man hours for the project has reached a total of 19, 926,523 hours, with another 73,477 hours to go before it hits 20mil mark.
Ir. Safuani in his speech at WPC11, read by head of construction management, Ir. Ng Chin Meng, reiterated on the need to ensure work safety is in place as he again stressed that “no job is worth a single life.”
He listed down some of the measures which have been undertaken as part of the health, safety, environment and traffic management (HSET) efforts and these include the setting up of a traffic management unit to oversee the implementation of traffic management programmes and radio messages on popular stations like Hitz FM, My FM and Era FM to remind road users to follow strictly to traffic signages.
“We have also conducted various workshops i.e. Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) to educate our workers on the right practices in road building, health, safety and environment and traffic management.
In other words, we are inculcating good practices in the industry and at the same time helping our workers to improve themselves by giving them extra knowledge,” he added.
