48 site staff attend rigging and slinging workshop

Thursday, 29 March 2018, Kuching: Sixteen site staff from southern region attended a one-day awareness workshop on rigging and slinging yesterday at CKSB Training Centre here.

Prior to the workshop yesterday, similar workshops were held in the northern and central regions on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The workshop was aimed at providing participants who are involved in slinging, lifting and signalling operations for civil and bridge works with basic skill requirements and practical applications, as well as work safety knowledge.

Rigging is the process of lifting and moving heavy loads with ropes, chains and mechanical devices while sling is a loop of material that connects the load to the lifting device.

Through the workshop, the participants have equipped themselves with fundamental knowledge and skills in identifying, selecting, inspecting as well as how to use slings and lifting safely and effectively.

This is important as LBU, being the PDP for Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak has always emphasised on work safety and skills enhancement for the workers.
