Ignoring Traffic Directive Causes Collision

Wednesday, 7 March 2018, Kuching: An accident happened between a Proton Persona and lori hantu yesterday evening in Sri Aman section under the Pantu Junction-Batang Skrang (PJS) stretch.

From the report received at site, it was stated that the Proton Persona which was travelling from Debak to Malugu ignored the flagman who had signalled for the car to stop.

As a result of this, the car which was speeding and did not stop despite being signalled to do so, collided with the lori hantu which emerged from the road junction.

It was lucky enough for the car driver to escape unhurt in the accident.

This accident is a clear case of road users ignoring the various directives and signages that have been put in place to direct traffic during this construction period of Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak.

From Telok Melano all the way to Miri where the construction is in progress, Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU) being the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for this highway project has been stressing on the importance of traffic management to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for road-users.

A Traffic Management Unit was even set up recently where a Traffic Management Officer is placed at the respective 11 works packages to oversee the implementation of traffic management.

This is the commitment shown by LBU to hype up the traffic management to ensure it is enforced at the highest degree level to ensure road safety is well in place.

The accident which happened yesterday should be a reminder to everyone to strictly follow the traffic directives and signages while commuting along the current Sarawak trunk road which is being upgraded to a highway standard of 4-lanes dual carriageway.

Drive safe and observe the traffic rules!
