Wednesday, 14 February 2018, Kuching: Staff from WPC07 (Bintangor Junction-Julau Junction & Sibu Airport-Sungai Kua Bridge-BSK) volunteered and rolled up their sleeves yesterday to help clean up SK Nanga Kua, near Selangau.
The school was inundated by water after the small town, about an hour drive from Sibu, was badly flooded after the non-stop pounding rain hit the state recently.
The recent flood which struck the little town, about an hour drive from Sibu, in what is believed to be the worst in 15 years had displaced 1,000 people from their homes.
WPC08 (Sungai Kua Bridge-Sungai Arip Bridge-SKB) also lent a helping hand by providing logistic help in a joint effort with relevant government agencies to clean up SK Nanga Selangau, about 10 to 15km from Selangau.
Apart from logistic support, the staff from this works package also took part in cleaning up the school.
The gotong royong activity from both works packages is part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme from Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak team to contribute in whatever way it could to the community.
As for those who volunteered, it was also time for them to foster good camaraderie.
Kudos to the team!
