CNY Road Safety Campaign launched

Tuesday, 13 February 2018, Kuching: With Chinese New Year just three days away, respective works package contracts (WPC) has kickstarted its Road Safety Campaign to promote safe driving in view of the festive season home rush.

Four WPCs- namely Serian-Pantu Junction (SPJ), Sungai Awik Bridge-Bintangor Junction (SAB), Bintangor Junction-Julau Junction and Sibu Airport-Sungai Kua Bridge (BSK) as well as Mile 5-Nyabau Flyover and Jalan Bakun Junction-Sungai Tangap (BJT) launched their respective campaign yesterday which was also participated by relevant government agencies i.e. Royal Malaysian Police and Road Safety Department (JKJR).

Telok Melano-Sematan (TMS), Sematan-Sungai Moyan (SSM), Pantu Junction-Batang Skrang (PJS), Sungai Arip Bridge-Bintulu Airport (ABJ), Sungai Arip Bridge-Sungai Awik Bridge (SKB) works packages will launch their campaign today.

Batang Skrang-Sungai Awik (SSA) and Sungai Tangap-Pujut Link Road (TPL) works package meanwhile will have their tomorrow.

The campaign is part of the Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU), the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak’s effort to inculcate safe and good driving practice among the road users.

This is particularly so when the construction of the highway which is on a “live” road will be ongoing until it is completed by the end of 2021.

Other than the Road Safety Campaign, LBU has also gone on air on various popular radio channels such as Hitz FM and My FM to pass the road safety message to radio listeners during major festivals.

Recently, LBU has also set up its Traffic Management Unit which will oversee the implementation of traffic management programmes at all the 11 works packages.

Meanwhile, the project team at all the 11 works packages will be working round the clock during this Chinese New Year festival to ensure that the traffic management is in full compliance to the requirement set to ensure smooth traffic flow along the construction stretch.
